The Team


After graduating with a behavioural science degree, Val joined a London market research agency as Field Controller managing nationwide projects in the field. She relocated to Norfolk and took up a research position at Archant and then 13 years with a large Norwich based Market Research agency.

Val’s role as Research Services Manager covered all projects and responsibilities including setting up quantitative projects within the 30-strong CATI telephone unit for multi-lingual surveys as well as keeping her team of analysts and data processors in order.



Andrew entered the Market Research industry in 1995 following 15 years of retail management.  Since that time he has worked for research agencies on all aspects of Qual and Quant research from project briefing to final outputs.

In 2006, Andrew was delighted to team up with Val to form Avalon Research and has continually updated his skills in project specifications, fieldwork, analysis and report writing to help Avalon grow.

Andrew says:

“I enjoy the challenges of running a business and my day-to-day role at Avalon involves management of projects from proposal writing and questionnaire design to fieldwork organisation and analysis.  

I particularly like the partnership relationships we have with our clients as opposed to the traditional client-supplier roles.” 

Val Keel
Val says:

I like to think I bring a maturity of attitude, an understanding of what is needed and a willingness to go that extra mile.”

We are also fortunate to have a fine team of support staff whose skills include telephone interviewing to businesses and consumers, recruitment for qualitative projects, data processing of hard copy questionnaires and back coding of open ended responses.
